Technology is playing an increasingly important role in English dispute resolution. Just as the number and variety of disputes concerning technology and its consequences continue to grow, the role of technology in facilitating efficient and effective dispute resolution is increasing.
From the critical reliance of business on IT, through to exposure to cyber breaches and the growing intervention of regulators and governments in areas such as data protection, technology risk is frequently at the top of the CEO and GC agenda. The inevitable consequence is an increase in the volume of technology litigation, and the evolution of English law to deal with the many questions posed by disruptive technologies.
Technology is bursting into the legal sector. Innovation is being sought by courts and tribunals to use technology to facilitate quick and cost efficient dispute resolution. But there is still much to be done to keep pace with the demands of today’s businesses, let alone tomorrow’s.
